Saint John - Munda
Written by chris ithacorama on 31.10.2013In the Southeast side of Ithaca, in the cape Munda is the chapel of St. John.
When it was first built is not known. In 1927 the locals from Preachori John Cassian (Tsaras), Spiros Drakopoulos (Tsiboukas) and Panagis Comitas decided to rebuild the ruined chapel.
Around 1946 the church was destroyed by a landmine explosion that was in the area. It was Rebuilt, but the earthquake of 1953 destroyed it again. Still though, the residents took care to build once again.
