The men wore trousers and jackets of which the material was a combination of linen and wool that was usually black, but the older men would wear the sailors wide trousers made of linen with the color of marine blue, handmade woolen socks that would cover the trousers and a woven cap worn on the head with a silk tassel for the wealthier. The winter coat was a shaggy coat, made from goat’s wool. The daily shoes were brogans made of either ox or swine leath­er, but on Sundays and special occasions a pair of proper shoes were worn.
