Anogi - Assumption

The Church the virgin Marry in Anogi, was built at an altitude of 500m and is one of the biggest, most important and oldest churches in the Balkans .
Partially built 700 years ago, the interior of the church is covered with frescoes entire Byzantine style . For this reason it has been declared a protected historical monument by the Ministry of Education. The church was badly damaged in the earthquakes of 1953. Repaired with the care and assistance of the Ithacan Panos Gratseas .
