Chani’s story began generations ago as Dimia’s Chani, a haven for weary travelers. The Doriza family of Vathi ran this iconic spot, where weary passengers found rest and refreshment with water, loukoumi (Turkish delight), coffee, bread, and cheese. History buffs will be particularly intrigued to learn that Lord Byron himself once graced Chani with his presence on his way to Homer’s School. During World War II, the strategic location even served as an observatory.
