The Ithaca Municipal Choir, founded in 2003, traces its origins back to the Community Center for the Elderly in Ithaca (ΚΑΠΗ Ιθάκης) and later evolved into a municipal institution. Since then, it has embarked on a journey through time, enriching its repertoire and fostering a vibrant cultural presence both within and beyond the shores of Ithaca.

This choir owes its existence and continuity to the harmonious collaboration of its members, the guidance of its conductor, and the steadfast support from local authorities, but above all, to the unwavering love and devotion of the people of Ithaca.

Comprising approximately 30 amateur singers, guided by their Maestro, and supported by four instrumentalists playing piano, harmonica, guitar, and bouzouki, the choir epitomizes the essence of the Ionian Islands’ musical heritage.

Rooted in the traditions of serenades and festive gatherings, where guitars and mandolins echoed through the night, the Ithaca Municipal Choir preserves the timeless elements of the Ionian culture. Today, whether in the form of a choir or a mandolin ensemble, they proudly uphold the legacy of their heritage, ensuring that the rich tapestry of Eptanisian culture remains indelibly woven into the fabric of their community.
