PAO Odysseas Ithakis (Football Athletic Club “Odysseas”) was founded in 1980, fulfilling the long-standing desire of the residents of Northern Ithaca to create a club that represents them in local sports events. Since its establishment, Odysseas has consistently participated in the Kefalonia-Ithaca championships, building a reputation for its strong spirit and remarkable athletic talent.
The club joined the Union of Football Associations of Kefalonia and Ithaca, starting in the B’ Amateur Category. In its first season (1980-81), Odysseas achieved a significant milestone by earning promotion to the A’ Category. The club’s best performance in the A’ Category came in the 1983-84 season, when it finished in 3rd place. Notable milestones include winning the B’ Category Championship twice, during the 1988-89 and 2013-14 seasons, earning the respect of its rivals.
A landmark in Odysseas’ history was the inauguration of its own stadium in Stavros in 1994, made possible by a donation from Nikolaos Ravtopoulos-Passas, a historic president and one of the club’s founders. This stadium provided Odysseas with a dedicated home ground, fulfilling the dream of many generations.
Another significant milestone was in 2014, when the club established its Youth Team, comprising 17 players aged 9-11, who competed honorably in the Kefalonia-Ithaca Pre-Junior Championship. This initiative not only made the Odysseas community proud but also created high hopes for the club’s future.
Supported by the local community, PAO Odysseas Ithakis remains a vital part of Ithaca’s cultural and social fabric, fostering sportsmanship and community spirit on the island.
