Timeless Carnival Celebrations
The carnival was a cherished celebration for everyone.
People of all ages delighted in its unforgettable festivities, which included songs, dance, and costumes and masks, often in the Venetian style. At night, revelers would wander from house to house, playing practical jokes on those who preferred to stay home.
On the final day of the carnival, a grand parade featured a competition for the best costumes and the most impressive presentations.
The next morning, the fortieth day before Easter, Lent began. This day was spent in the countryside, with an ample supply of food and wine to keep spirits high, accompanied by more songs and dance.
