Saint Eustatius

In Vathy, in the area under Vounaki is the church of Saint Stathis. It was built around 1800.
It is quite large chapel, with courtyard and tall pines around.
What draws attention of the pilgrims are the murals covering the temple. It is fairly well preserved, but it must be cared for and maintained.
Also impressive is the loft, at the back and top of the small church. Its facade is closed with wooden lattice entitling. Whoever is up there is able to see the inner part of the temple, but not the reverse if someone is down to the main part of the chapel .
This church celebrates every year on September 20 , the day of memory of St. Eustatius and his family.
