Perachori is located at a distance of 3 km from the capital Vathy and is positioned at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level.

The mainstay profession of the local inhabitants is agriculture. The land here is rich and fertile and water is available in plenty. Highly recommended is the locally produced wine. The people of Paleochora first inhabited the village of Perachori during the Venetian regime.
Paleochora, an old inhabitation, is situated higher up, and is reachable from the fringes of Perachori via a trail. Perachori village is highly recommended for the spectacular sight of the bay of Vathy along with the two taverns offering authentic Greek cuisine. Excursion sites that can be visited include the Monastery of Taxiarchon, which is higher up, about 3 km via a trail, and situated 500 meters above sea level. 

The last Saturday of July, in Perachori is the wine festival, with plenty of local wine, food and music.
