Kioni
Written by Ithacorama Portal on 25.08.2010Kioni is situated 24 km from Vathy and is one of the most beautiful villages on Ithaca. It is built on a deep bay and the village and has been declared as preserved.
It offers wonderful views and beautiful Beaches such as Plakoutses.
The entrance of the bay is dominated by three ruined windmills. Very impressive are the well preserved old houses, most of which were built in the 16th century and have stood over the years and the devastating earthquakes that shook the Ionian Islands
The village also offers religious interest. It is worth visiting the churches of Evangelistria, Agios Nikolaos and Agios Ioannis.
